Each month we select a past Invisible Folk Club radio show to air on the podcast channel. Jon Bickley curates and presents the show. Nothing in the broad church of folk related music is off limits.

On our podcast channel you'll find shows where the songs might be longer, where the music is allowed to stretch and breathe. Maybe something a little more challenging.

We know our podcast listeners have the time, space and inclination to play the long game, to allow something to evolve.

It's another very English playlist (original radio broadcast 29th April 2018):
Shirley Collins - Awake Awake/Split Ash Tree/May Carol/Southover
Shirley Collins - Sweet England
Shirley Collins - The Cruel Mother
Shirley Collins/Albion Band - Murder of Maria Marten
Marisa, Jack & Davy - Nobleman's Wedding
Wolf People - Banks of Sweet Dundee Part 2
Badgers Sett - Hard Times Of Old England
Badgers Sett - Lowlands of Holland
Roy Bailey - In The Park
Jon Bickley - Free Man Of England

Geraldine Pearson-Green writes and performs songs about her native Bedfordshire. Accompanying herself on guitar she sings of the wisdom and good works of John Bunyan, the Cardington airships (especially the ill-fated R101), Stewartby brickworks, Luton hats, Bedfordshire lace, and even Brussel sprouts!

Geraldine's compositions are well constructed and researched. They are not just restricted to local history, the session also includes heartfelt songs touching on many of our hopes and fears.

If you want more information about Geraldine and her music please leave a message via the Contact page on the Invisible Folk Club website

Marisa, Jack & Davy breathe life into lesser known traditional folk songs. They all sing, play guitar and percussion. Their 3 part harmonies and arrangements are inventive and original, occasionally channelling the Young Tradition. They cite Peter Bellamy and Nic Jones as key influences and feature two of Bellamy's songs in this set.

Since 2015 Marisa, Jack & Davy have run occasional acoustic folk nights and promoted concerts in and around Bedford under the name Mill Race Folk. They have featured such artists as Martin Carthy, John Kirkpatrick, Anna & Elizabeth, Stick in The Wheel.

Mill Race Folk look for venues that reflect the history and aesthetics of the local area. Shows have been held in the 18th century Bromham watermill, the John Bunyan Museum, the John Bunyan Community Boat and the 15th century timber-framed Elstow Moot Hall.

Jack Sharp is also singer/songwriter/guitarist with popular psych folk/rock band Wolf People.
