Are you aware that Invisible Folk Club has a weekly radio presence? From time to time selected shows will be featured on our podcast channel.

Invisible Folk Club radio goes out in late night slots on 3 community stations across England. Host Jon Bickley creates a nice relaxed atmosphere and spins the discs.

If you aren’t around when the weekly shows are broadcast you can catch-up via our Mixcloud page where all the shows are archived.

The radio show came about almost by accident when a new station CRMK (Milton Keynes) launched in our part of the world in Spring 2017. They liked the sound of our podcasts and gave us the chance to transfer it to the radio. We soon found that Community Radio was a great place to be, especially when Sine FM from Doncaster and later Radio St Austell Bay down in Cornwall also came calling.

Playlist (originally broadcast 3rd June 2018):
Copper Family - Seasons Round
Copper Family - My Father Had an Acre of Land
PJ Harvey - An Acre of Land
PJ Harvey - Ministry of Defence
Ry Cooder - Nobody's Fault But Mine
Ry Cooder - Prodigal Son
Anna & Elizabeth - Mother in the Graveyard
Jill Waterson & Ady Shaw - Be Bop a Lula Too-Rye-Ay
Jon Bickley - Flames of Grenfell Tower
Odette Michell - Who Knows Where The Time Goes?
Alan Garmonsway - Song for Sue
Pete Castle - A Doctor's Life
Stick in the Wheel - Weaving Song

Singer/songwriter Dave Artus trades songs and conversation with host Jon Bickley. Dave is an articulate and interesting guest. It was an immensely enjoyable afternoon talking about the craft of songwriting, playing live, choosing songs to cover, recording with professional producers, helping to run a successful folk club (Uxbridge), running a folk festival (Rickmansworth). We covered a lot of ground!

Dave features songs from his recently released album 'Viewpoints' but also performs a number of songs unavailable elsewhere.

'Viewpoints' is available on CD via djnamusic@gmail.com or download from iTunes or Amazon.

Rickmansworth Folk Festival is 14th July, the action takes place at the Feathers pub, Batchworth Lock and the Conservative Club.

Back in February 2017 singer Anne Cunningham was featured artist on the very first Invisible Folk Club podcast. 16 months later she has made a welcome return, this time in the company of singer/songwriter Alan Garmonsway who also had his own podcast feature in November 2017.

For over 10 years Alan and Anne were part of Badgers Sett a quartet that began life in folk clubs going on to play a wide range of venues across south east England. More recently Anne has contributed lead vocals to many of the songs on Alan's 2017 solo project 'Ridgeway' and they perform 6 songs from that album on this podcast session.

Host Jon Bickley also contributes a number of his more recent compositions.

Lots of Alan’s material can be found on his 'Best Room Songs' YouTube channel. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxNHJZBeYeDpV-nqzvOFHng/videos

Folk/Prog band Pagan Harvest take inspiration from the English landscape, that sense of place that can be found in Shakespeare’s forests and moors, Wordsworth’s mountains and streams, and even on Westminster Bridge.

On 1st February 2018 they released their second album. Entitled 'Sacred River' it is a bold artistic statement, a hybrid of dark folk, classical and progressive rock influences encompassing the myths, legends and magic of London and the River Thames.

Songwriter Jon Bickley talks to Invisible Folk Club producer Steve Yarwood about the lyrical themes which evoke an atmosphere of ancient London in the time of Charles Dickens and much much earlier.

The album is available to download from https://paganharvest.bandcamp.com/album/sacred-river
